Mark and Jenny Fraser have always lived and worked in our coastal environment and treasure the wildness that is the New Zealand coastline. Mark has a background as a fisherman and a skipper and Jenny has a horticultural science background and is a keen gardener and lover of the New Zealand bush. Seaweed was always collected for the home garden, enriching the sandy soils that were a part of coastal living.
For many years Mark and Jenny took visitors to the Kapiti Island Nature Reserve.
Travels around New Zealand always seemed to be in places with wild beaches with abundant beach cast Seaweed. Spending time on the Wairarapa Coast and visiting the Chatham Islands and the Sub Antarctic Islands highlighted the abundance and richness of the Seaweed beds in New Zealand which finally prompted the expansion of a hobby for the home garden into a commercial business and Seaweed Bliss NZ was born.
